March saw the opening of the new Recycling Lives Tyre Bay. Originally located at our car spares site on Kent Street the department has now moved to its new home at RL1.
Recycling Lives are very proud to announce that we have just become a Franchised Registered Training Provider for and on behalf of Lancashire Adult Learning. The RL1 building is Recycling Lives’ first SEE Learning Centre (Social Enterprise Education) and as part of the ongoing development of our Workforce Development Programme we will offer NVQs up to Level 3 in Recycling.
The new UK scrappage scheme means that motorists trading in a vehicle which is 10 years old or more gets £2000 towards the cost of their new car; £1000 from the Government and £1000 from the Car Dealer.
The ever growing size of the Recycling Lives fleet of vehicles has reached a point where have made the decision to upgrade our systems to ensure our customers continue to get a first class service.
Recycling Lives, in conjunction with South Ribble Borough Council, gave the residents from King Street, Lostock Hall and the surrounding area a free ‘roll-on-roll-off’ bin for their waste. Over 400 residents from the local community were invited to spring clean early and as usual we were expecting a good turnout.

Trials between Recycling lives and UCLAN are already underway at the RL1 centre on Essex Street, Preston. The partnership has been set up to do a study into the breakdown of Flat Panel Display (FPD) equipment in order to find the safest and most efficient way for it to be recycled.
