Recycle or Reuse Cardboard Boxes
Ways to re-use the humble cardboard box
Can I recycle cardboard boxes?
Yes. Some local authority kerbside schemes will collect cardboard, or you can take it to a recycling bank.
What else can I do with them?
- Keep large cardboard boxes whenever you move house – even if you don’t plan to move again, your friends or neighbours might need them.
- Your local school or playgroup may use cardboard boxes for craft projects.
- Use a cardboard box to collect your other recycling in – then you won’t have to separate it later!
Re-use your Cardboard boxes
- Small boxes – re-use as gift boxes or storage
- Egg boxes - use as seed trays or in compost
- Cereal boxes – use to reinforce envelopes, make bookmarks or magazine holders
- Large boxes - use for animal bedding, mulching and compost, and under-the-bed storage
