Recycling Lives has over the past month been busy moving its CRT processing operations from its original location at Redscar Business Park, Preston to its new home on Roman Way Industrial Estate, Preston adjacent to the new administrative head offices.
The move of the CRT processing facility is seen as a positive step to assist in improving efficiencies and capacity of the CRT side of the business. Recycling Lives currently processes thousands of units every year, testing and refurbishing them where possible to be moved into emerging markets both in home countries and overseas. Other units are dismantled, to liberate all constituent materials for further processing, such materials will include, copper, steel, glass and plastic.
The CRT processing facility was initially setup in response to the European WEEE regulations which now govern the disposal of all waste electrical and electronic equipment and the regulations have reuse of equipment as a priority. Compliance schemes looking after electrical and electronic producers such as Sony, Panasonic, Bosch and similar again are expected to push for reuse within the processors working for them. As a conscientious processor Recycling Lives are keen to adhere to the regulations and to work to the ethics and spirit of them.
With the high emphasis being placed on reuse we made it our duty to ensure our levels of reuse were the best they possibly could be and have installed a number of measures to help in this mission. We are now pleased to announce that a consistent reuse rate of 40% of units received by our facility has now been increased to in excess of 50% from some of our suppliers. This news is of course excellent and we thank the CRT processing team for their efforts in making this happen.
