As we move into September and the final quarter of the year the Recycling Lives development in the heart of Preston is moving into the latter stages of construction. The imposing building which now dominates the skyline over the St Georges ward is reaching completion. The external super structure walls are complete, the roof is on, the first electrical and mechanical fixes are done, the windows are in, the floors are finished and much of the internal walls and even plastering has now begun. Over the final 3 months of the development we will see the finishes made to all the internal work and the landscaping of the surrounding grounds ready for a planned completion in early December. Despite many days of inclement weather over the past 3 months steady progress has still been made and the project remains slightly ahead of schedule.
Our grand opening will be announced over coming months and we will welcome our first residents in mid December in time for the festive period. In the New Year the hard work will begin as we increase the numbers of residents and begin to offer the support, mentoring, pastoral care and training which all stand for what Recycling Lives is. In 2009 we can also look forward to the development of new Recycling Lives centres as momentum gathers for our other planned centres.
